I notice more aches and strains in my body. i notice that my breathing because deeper when i just notice how im breathing. and im very excited for the next few months to see where this goes. I think i will investigate this more in the context of martial arts, where i believe the eastern world has a lot to say about this. i might even try tai chi!
Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-84207174832430985752022-04-26T22:50:00.002+01:002022-04-26T22:50:24.393+01:00empathy and lack thereof
it turns out i dont really do empathy. i think i do, and i can understand what things are like for other people, but i dont really feel what they're feeling. though, this is probably because i never feel what i'm feeling. this annoys me! i recently realised i say i'm not hurt by something because i don't want to be hurt by it, not because i'm actually not hurt by it. this prevents any attempts to change it.

so im going to try and start feeling things better and just go with.

today i tried this with my boss, who decided that we cant hire two people, only one. this was as i was about to ask to hire three people, not two. and the reasons given dont make any sense. it was because "we didn't hire them before the end of the month"

it's not the end of the month and we were literally about to offer two people jobs tomorrow.

this was frustrating. i want good people in place! even though i'm leaving lol. so i shouldnt get frustrated because i am leaving, but i just went with it anyway. it makes sense because its yet another thing my boss is duplicitous about. but it doesn't need to be frustrating because i know what they're like and i just gotta do what i can to actually hire three people. we'll see how that goes!
Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-24264892838401568532022-04-11T22:45:00.001+01:002022-04-11T22:45:15.046+01:00day 10
i missed a few days. is this day 10 or day 15? well, it's the 10th day of my posting.

the last fwe days i've been thinking lots about apologies. the following text will be an incoherent rambling

"i'm sorry you feel that way"

This is not an apology. It is, however, empathy. and sometimes useful, i think, if it's not meant as an apology, even though it has the words "i'm sorry" in it.

being asked to apologise. i'm torn on this one. if you need someone to apologies, you need to ask them to do so, they won't know. if you would like someone to be sorry for the things they've done, asking for an apology doesn't always work, because maybe they'll apologise when they know they need to, without actually being sorry. that feels quite untrustworthy though.

i think you need to let people know when they've hurt you, without asking for an apology. the apology has to come from them. but without a commitment to change their behaviour, the apology is meaningless. except for you not knowing if they make that commitment.

i also struggle with feeling hurt. i often know that i shouldnt feel hurt, and dont want to feel hurt but still get hurt by others! so why do i need to ask for an apology, instead of just becoming a better person and not being hurt? i guess there's levels to this - being hurt, and finding a behaviour in someone else difficult. if i find something difficult it's surely only reasonable to expect me to change myself. and if i dont want to, then to understand why.

my therapist loves to tell me i dont live in a vacuum when i state the above. i know i dont live in a vacuum. that misses the point entirely. i dont not ask other people to change their behaviour because i think they dont exist. i focus on changing myself because that's all i can control.

all that said, i think i need to work better on noticing in the moment when i get hurt, what caused it, coming out of the hurt, and then working on it at a later time to understand why that happened, and how i would want to behave when facing the same trigger.

i think i'd like to revisit this post and try to make it coherent in future.
Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-29114644749893559592022-04-06T00:24:00.002+01:002022-04-06T00:24:18.020+01:00day 9
bit defender thinks my own blog is suspicious. im not sure what to make of that, but maybe it's right?

not as suspicious as people taking the bins out after midnight though.

therapy:

there were a few things i had on my list to mention tonight but i have forgotten most of them. old age is a blessing and a curse.

i've read the 7 habits a couple of times now. i know i can choose how i feel, yet sometimes i forgot and feel hurt by things i dont want to feel hurt by eg when my wife laughs at me because i feel ill. often i'll tell myself im not hurt because i dont need to be, but i am! very confusing.

also i need to decide whether to quit my job now or wait 6 months so i can cash in on my bonus...
Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-26305361287928713172022-04-04T23:27:00.003+01:002022-04-04T23:27:52.488+01:00day 8
a quick one i'm getting in just before the midnight deadline:

there is very little in the emotional bank account between me and my wife at the moment so it takes not much for things to just deteriorate (i had to look that up, where is the blogger spellcheck!?)

i wonder if i can just change this for myself?

(tomorrow topic, if i didnt cover it yesterday - misophonia triggers)
Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-37104460690843069052022-04-03T22:10:00.002+01:002022-04-03T22:10:31.723+01:00Day 7I just spent so long playing an online mega drive simluator that I almost forgot to post today. I recently read 'Ready Player One' and just thought it hit the spot for someone my age. I don't feel as old as I do. Except when I notice how long it takes for my body to recover from exercise. Or that mentally I am in a much better place than when I was younger. So I do feel old, but not as old as people older than me!

Therapy

I did have therapy thoughts today. I'm pretty sure I have misophonia. It's quite an annoying condition. Mostly neurological apparently, so I can't just stop feeling that way. Which is a pain. There are ways to minimise the response caused by certain sounds, which mostly involve being in a good place mentally. I've noticed that my wife hits all my triggers. I've tried speaking to her about this but it never really landed very well, so i just manage it myself as best as i can. Which is sometimes not very well. I'm not sure what to do about this. I think I will raise it in therapy!

Good night.
Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-75259037890508982202022-04-02T22:27:00.001+01:002022-04-02T22:27:53.631+01:00day 6
im impressed i've managed to keep this going daily. i hope i can keep the routine. I find it hard to do this daily, yet i have no problem playing worlde daily! Well, i do - i couldnt stop playing. I eventually failed one day (after playing it in style of hard mode) and have quit cold turkey - i never need to play again!

my wife often compains she has ocd. she does not have ocd. she has issues with control (as do most people). she does not have obsessive compulsive disorder to do things. eg she'll say she has ocd about cleanings things, but has no obesession or compulsion to clean them except when she wants to!

i have pointed this out but didn't get heard. i have decided to stop being annoyed by this. i dont think it's a good attitude, as it's pretty much taking on a victim mentality and removing responsibility for self improvement. oh well. i hope thats not something i do. it's something that i often wish i had an excuse to do though eg if i did have ocd i would have an excuse for any poor behaviours i have. instead, i have to be an adult and try to fix myself.

new thought:

i regularly find it incredible how much of an effect music can have on me. especially music from when i was late teens. it can just make me happy. i saw less than jake are playing next saturday night in london. i considering going. i'll be one of those old people at gigs that confused me when i was young!

therapy

im enjoying my attempts of heightened awareness of my self. trying to pay attention to how im feeling. physically, mentally & emotionally. my wrist has been hurting for two days. sometimes i sit in a way that causes muscles strains but i dont really pay attention. sometimes i'm thirsty and dont really pay attention.

it also works on conversation with others. sometimes i feel like any deep/meaningful conversations with my wife don't end well. im trying to work on understand what triggers any negative feelings in me, and working them through to fix what's wrong with me in those cases. it's hard work but at least i have my five step program.
Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-17164850965239134862022-04-01T18:19:00.001+01:002022-04-01T18:19:28.100+01:00Day 5
Bad times are an opportunity for growth.

Having a difficult boss that dislikes you makes it easy to just quit and get another job. A high temp, flu-like lethargy etc Apparently some viruses cause this behaviour. The immune system is a bit weaker at night so the body fights more readily against infection, and this causes my symptoms to be present only in the evening

I am otherwise practicising diligence, and trying to do one thing per day for book writing. I need to sort out the layout next. And then in a couple of weeks when i have time off work, im going to just write up the whole book.

The lack of spellcheck on the blog spot editor is unforgivable, Apologies for any typos. I've forgotten how to spell since spellchecks became ubiquitous.

Therapy

Today, in couples therapy, I had to teach my therapist the first of the 7 habits. You are responsible for your choices. She said she makes dinner for her family even when she doesn't want to. I explained, that she wanted to do it more than she didn't want to do it. And it was her choice, she didn't have to. And that when she accepts it's her choice, she won't feel any resentment. And she can at any point in the future change her mind and stop making it.

Luckily she agreed.
Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-71851830552781557052022-03-30T15:37:00.005+01:002022-03-30T15:37:46.345+01:00Day 3
I have started looking for a new job. My boss just does not like me. They have never said one good thing that I do. All our conversations are centered around her complaining about things I haven't done. Often things which are not part of my job (and she acknowledges aren't part of my job).

Today, I had my weekly 1:1 with her, and at one point she told me to calm down! For having the temerity to disagree with her. Then she told me I was being condesceding! Simply for defending myself and pointing out where she was wrong. I am not prepared to train her on how to behave properly.

I was worried about leaving as I've created a team I really like. Only today I found out one of them is resigning! That actually gave me so much relief I immediately called my favourite recruiters so I can get another job asap. I'm tempted to hand in my notice even without having another job!

I was talking to a friend a couple of nights ago how people's communications skills have deteriorated during the pandemic and how everyone has become more defensive. I defintely see that in my boss. I would guess it comes from a place of insecurity, but I can't be sure. I can be sure I don't care.

I like how much more centered I am. This mostly comes from the 7 habits. I've started noting a few other things I do which I need to do less of. I am not adventurous. Even taking a route home that I'm not familiar with is not something I do naturally and have to encourage myself to do. Even when asked if i didn't plan it in my head, my reflex is to say no. I want to change that somewhat.

Therapy wise, i'm still focussed on not holding my wife to any standards other than herself. This has reduced frustration I feel, and I don't take her moods as personally. I am pleased about this.
Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-38326444046404045452022-03-29T21:59:00.002+01:002022-03-29T22:00:30.974+01:00Day 2
As I am currently feverish I will keep this short and sweet.

I can’t test for Covid because my child has learnt how to administer Covid tests and used them all up. My wife was happy she kept busy. I don’t mind other than I would have liked to know so I could order more. Not that it really matters. No one cares about Covid anymore. Except I don’t want to infect old people for no reason. Tbqh I don’t want to infect anyone with what I have so I should stay home for a bit.

In couples therapy, the therapist said “I need to learn to not hold my wife to my standards”. I know I don’t do that but something didn’t sit quite right. My therapist said the other day that I haven’t let go of my previous relationship. And that’s when I realised I hold my wife to my ex’s standards. A battle that can’t be won against a memory of someone. So I’ve stopped doing that and already feel better. Mentally! Still ill physically! Except maybe they’re connected and this illness is just letting go? Nah, probably an actual infection.
Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-13754494063059769052022-03-28T20:56:00.001+01:002022-03-28T20:56:46.678+01:00a 4 week journal. day 1today, my therapist told me i need to start a journal. i like to say 'my therapist'. it's like saying 'my lawyer' 'my accountant' etc and it means i am now an adult. i don't feel like an adult. i feel grown up / mature, as though i have a good attitude to life. but i don't feel like an adult. which is odd as i'm nearly 40. this is old by any metric.

what have i achieved in life? very little of note. maybe i need different targets. instead of trying to win the sunday millions, a bracelet, becoming a multi millionaire some other way, staring my own successful company, being a professional author, business coach, maybe i just need more meaningful goals. start a charity, raise happy children, become king of kong jr.

anyway, my therapist. she told me to journal. in this daily journal for four weeks i will talk about 2 things

therapy

other thoughts

Therapy

i say 'my therapist' but it was the first session i have had with her. it was eye opening. she asked a question about belonging, and i said the only two times i felt like i belonged was 1 with my ex gf, and 2 when i walked into a casino in las vegas. she picked out the former and went with it. she later said it was interesting i brought that into the room, but i was just answering a question. anyway, i'm not really over my ex yet, which i probably should try to be. i said i was scared if i get over it then i wont have that as a part of me giong forward, but that's obviously not true. i can be over it and carry her in my heart till the day i die. i need to just work on myself to make sure i know thats true. i think that's what the next 28 days will be about.

Other thoughts

im going to quit my job soon. i think bonuses get paid in 3 months, so i have to wait till then to hand in my 3 month notice. i can do another 6 months. i enjoy the work. i enjoy the people i work with - they're really great (i chose some of them, so maybe i am biased). i also want to see through a couple of projects. but why am i leaving? i am not paid enough. and my boss is a dick.
for example: they told me i'm not getting promoted because i am not a strategic thinker. they are new to their role managing my team. i have presented our team vision, how it fits in with the company vision, our roadmap of high level tasks and how they fit in with our team vision. i talked them through this and shared our docs which outline all of this. that is a strategy. in my opinion, it's actually a great strategy. it is, in my opinion, created along the principles of the '7 habits of highly effective people' a book i cannot recommend enough. and my boss says i don't know how to think strategically?
i even asked the question: what could i have done better to communicate to you our team vision? i genuinely want to know the answer to that question.

there are plenty of things i dont do well. communicate with all other parts of the business (that is my boss's job, what the previous boss did, and started to pass on to me before he left), delegate better than i do, and more besides. but to pick the one thing i've actually done well in the last year, something feedback has been positive on with the changes that i've made, that's just a terrible excuse to not promote me.

the new boss has only complained about me since they got the job. i'm not sure why. the good thing about knowing i shall be quitting is that i don't have to care. i have no interest in confrontation, but i will be sharing my point of view next time i meet them, all coming from the place of how i feel, and what i think i have done well, and questions on what i could have done better.

more other thoughts. sometimes i think i'm addicted to sweet food, computer games, porn, chewing gum. then i read reddit and about people who have addictions and realise im not in that league. i dont think i'll ever be the best (or worst?) at somethingg.

more other thoughts. i need to drink more each day. so that i eat less and be healthier. i also need to sleep more. and exercise more.

i miss quincy capers.

ends.
Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-32906443248546810662018-11-15T01:10:00.000+00:002018-11-15T01:10:06.803+00:00four foot runningdo personal trainers say fore foot running is the best because they see horses do it and horses are very fast?
i once met a personal trainer who said he doesn't like cycling. he does running. he doesn't like cycling because it's too easy. you just stand up on the bike! easy peasy. I wonder why no one told any of the pro's about this revelation.
i have a lot of thoughts during the day that i think would be great to blog about. but then i forget them. My downstairs neighbours are not good neighbours.

It is currently being infested by the owners son and his wife. The owner's daughter lived there for a year and a half or so, with her new husband. They were terrible human beings. I've never heard such noisy people. And they had the audacity to complain I was noisy, because I once made a noise after 10pm. They were regularly loud after midnight, and even woke my at 3am in the morning. She has a laugh that could scare witches into becoming regular humans. When they were having sex it sounded like a thousand cats being strangled by a submental ogre. When I told them I could hear her laugh she was (fake) shocked and (fake) embarrassed. But it didn't twig that I could hear them sexing. I one banged on my floor in frustration - i had guests round in the afternoon and we were all treated to sex sounds that would be too unrealistic for a porn.
They then decided that every time they could so much as hear me that would aggressively bang on the ceiling repeatedly. I was delighted when they moved out.
She once sent me a text at 1130pm (because I dropped a pan) saying "it is after midnight and the banging continues. I would be grateful if it could stop" so I blocked her.
A few weeks later when they were sexing loud enough to scare away the neighbourhood foxes, I sent that same message back to her. Finally, the penny dropped.

His son who is currently there (on a temporary holiday I hope) is also very deaf. It's 11:08pm and his TV is on so loud I can almost hear every word. It was like that during the day too.
The irony is the owner is an ENT specialist. I want to ask him if his whole family is deaf, or if they're just selfish hypocrites.Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-72633868482353358032018-10-16T23:50:00.001+01:002018-10-16T23:50:58.154+01:00hooternannyi can't remember where i first heard the word hootenanny but imagine my surprise at finding out it's a real word!

today i have come to the conclusion that too many people write rubbish on the internet and other people love it. there's lots of quotes that are utter nonsense which the adoring fans of quote makers lap up. Joe Lycett created a twitter hashtag for such nonsense. it was #bullshitquotesijustmadeup and his only rule was you had to make it up in less than 3 seconds. I've noticed everyone now is just reversing the order of a quote to make it seem deep e.g. it's not the days in your life but the life in your days
i've never even heard anyone say it's the days in your life that matter

i too can make up comparable rubbish in less than 3 seconds.
"it's not the drops in the ocean but the oceans in your drop that matters"

"what counts is not the words that you use but your use of the words"

etc etc

today i was cycling to work, and on the other side of the not too wide road a lorry was parked. a lorry was trying to overtake it but had to wait for a gap in traffic on the opposite side of the road in order to get passed. the man in the car behind this lorry was absolutely aghast at such an occurrence and decided to hoot his horn.
according to the highway code you hoot your horn to alert other people to your presence. not because your angry, or to alert others to that fact that you're a dickhead. This dickhead decided to hoot non stop for about 90 seconds. because a lorry was trying to get passed a parked vehicle.

last year a colleague of mine asked me what's the best piece of advice. i said easy its this:
everything is a choice

you can't choose what happens to you, but you can choose how to react. at first i was annoyed but this loud unnecessary hooting, but after a few seconds i just started laughing because it's just so unnecessary it's funny.

the worst thing about getting old and having the sweetest tooth of all time is getting fat. I need to start eating and exercising again properly. like all good regimes, mine starts tomorrow.Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-13550857712379811632018-10-14T10:25:00.002+01:002018-10-14T10:25:54.418+01:00forkshow quickly i forget to post daily!

Well, it was a boring week. I am strangely struggling to find the humour in life. It doesn't help I slept for 13 hours on Saturday. This doesn't leave much time to be awake an entertained by life. I guess most entertainment comes from other people. I guess this is why observation humour is so common.

Thus, I shall instead relate a story about forks. I shall begin by saying I probably don't believe in ghosts.

This happened about a 18 months ago. My fiancee was round and cooking. I was about to lay the table. I went to the fork drawer, took out 2 of my 4 forks and went to put them on the table. Got distracted by something on the way, and couldn't find the forks. I have a small flat. I searched everywhere and they were no where to be seen. I looked in the fridge, freezer, cupboards, floors etc. GONE.
I now had 2 forks. I repeatedly asked her if she'd taken them to the point where she was so angry she would have said yes just to get me to stop asking. They were gone.

A month goes by and still no sign of the forks.

Then one day I get home from work, open the fork drawer, and there are 5 forks there. 5! Where did that extra one come from? I check with the fiancee - didn't know a thing about it.

The Bermuda triangle mystery had pretty much been solved, but I think this is one riddle that will last forever. I considered that maybe someone is living in my attic, like that Japanese girl from a few years ago.

I hope there is an afterlife so I can get answers to questions, including this one. Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-2287210704112471522018-10-09T22:47:00.000+01:002018-10-09T22:47:20.062+01:00backwardsas i was cycling home, i was thinking nothing of any note had happened today, and what could I even begin to write about. And then I saw an elder gentleman (50s, red jacket, bowler hat) walking backwards down the footpath. I thought maybe he was taking one or two steps back to see something he had just passed from a better angle. Nope, just walking backwards all the way down the road.

and isn't that a metaphor for life? no. no it isn't. it was just odd. but it was in a rich part of town so it was more likely he is eccentric, not crazy.

-------

most important things to report:
i did not get up at the count of 1 today. I decided to play with my phone for 10 minutes first. I shall impose a new rule. No phone playing till I am out of bed. Tomorrow I shall get up at the count of 1!

-------

i currently have a cold. I think most people I have met at the moment have a cold. This does not offer me any help.
The mornings are the worst in terms of having to clear my nose and throat. this morning i had to generate a massive cough in order to extricate some phlegm from my throat. a huge pretty solid piece of mostly grey, with a tinge of green, blob come out my face. I have not quite seen anything like this before. I scared myself a little bit. This story is probably a bit too much tmi. Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-81255399961984970172018-10-08T23:12:00.000+01:002018-10-08T23:12:55.187+01:00is there anyone out there....I recently read the works of Hendrik Groen. Well, the first of his two diaries. And it made me remember that writing is good for me. Even if no one else reads it. Probably, better it no one else reads it to be honest. For their sake.

The other activity I have discovered which is necessary for my mental health is riding a bike. Honestly, depression is horrific. It makes dropping $10k in 24 hours seem trivial. At one point I wanted to cut my brain out with a knife, but i settled for collapsing on the floor and screaming. That was one of the low points. Riding a bike is the only activity that helps get me out of the hole.
Getting cramps 50 miles into ride London, and smashing the rest of it to the point where I couldn't walk for 3 days afterwards was nothing compared to depression. High interval training feels bad. You have to get to the point of vomiting to know that you've pushed hard enough to make useful physical adaptations. It's really tough physically and mentally. Easy compared to depression.

It's been a couple of years since I was in my 2 year nadir and I've started to notice that it's sometimes a bit hard to feel as bad as I once felt. I won't forget what it was like, but I sometimes find it hard to feel the same way. That's a good thing for life! But it makes the HIT a bit harder.

-----------------

I have spoken before about failing to get up in the morning and trying a whole host of tricks to succeed. I still can't do it, but I have a new trick. I tried it this morning for the first time and it worked. Apparently it works with everything. And it's simple. Just count down from 5 to 1. Out loud. While thinking about what you have to do, and that you have to do it at 1.

Obviously with getting up it's obvious why you're doing it. Just make sure you know why you're doing other things before applying it to them!

I shall try it again tomorrow morning.

----------------

One of the reasons for restarting this is to sharpen my increasingly disintegrating mind (I had to look up that word - I could merely remember it began with the letter d). And I just want to find (at least) 1 funny thing to comment on each day.

Today - my lady was feeling unwell. When giving me a hug she complained about a smell on me. She has taken to disliking my deodorant and aftershave. So I have bought unscented alternatives. She still didn't like something. I said I haven't got anything on me. Then I remembered - I washed my hair. I don't use shampoo because it wrecks your hair (true story. I just use water intensively) but I had a haircut today, so I had to use a little. I used hers. That was the smell she objected to!

Books to read.
Tufte's data vis book (purchased, awaiting delivery)
Hendrik Groen part II (awaiting purchase)
Just My Type (A book on fonts. I think I a lot learning about this, which is odd for someone with a negative rating for artistic talent)
As i was just chilling at home I thought I would answer it.
as usual, i didn't say anything, but waited to see if a robot started talking. (I'm sure i've posted about the robots winning before but cannot find said post). a man then started talking, very unsure of himself due to my silence. 1-0 to me.
It was clearly a cold call. i then remembered the wise words of my friend who had one of these 'people' calling him where he just started asking them as many questions as possible about their life trying to get them to quit their job and doing something useful with their lives. That's a bit morbid for me so i decided to see if i could get the guy to hang up on me.
i just ignored everything he asked and started asking him questions. where did they get my number, what company gave it to them, do they have any other info other than a phone number, why won't he answer my questions, where is he based, why does he keep asking questions before i'm finished asking my questions, what's his name, how long has he been at work today, do any conversations last this long etc
after about 9 minutes i got so bored i asked him "i'm really bored now, aren't you?" to which he laughed out loud. happy with my days work, i said "so you're a human after all, capable of emotion. I don't really care what you have to say any more, and i'm sure vice versa is true, so we shall go our separate ways and i hope to never speak to you again".

i hung up. 1-1
That description never made sense to me. what is this 'energy'??

A couple of weeks ago I read Quiet by Susan Cain and she defined it in a way i had never before heard. When you're sensitive/reactive to your environment, you notice more and have to process a lot more information. This is what introverts brains do. This finally makes sense to me.
This is why it's so tiring to be surrounded by other people. After reading this, I notice how much I notice. In a club, or at work, the constant noise from many sources, the many visual distractions, all add up and are tiring to deal with. As are new scenarios where my brain has to process loads of new information.

This is neither good nor bad. It is what it is. And what it is, is that I understand how i work, and I can make sure I get the best out of myself. It also makes me realise what I want in a lady. And why for the most part i am attracted to the crazies - in my (very limited) experience, women who are more sensitive to life *tend* to be more spiritual and unscientific. And I like people who are sensitive, kind thoughtful etc. Just not living on another planet thank you please. And I know they exist, I've met a couple of perfect ones. It is just a shame I am so imperfect.

I remember as a kid being constantly told that I was too sensitive. As usual, people confuse sensitivity, kindness, folding etc with weakness. Weakness is to be avoided imo, not the other traits.
While I may be sensitive, i'm not an idiot. Well, I am semi retarded, and a slow thinker, but i try to not be an idiot. And so if I think someone has taken the piss, I'll cut them off without a second thought. I have no time for dickheads and psychos.Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-46311346106602738882016-04-10T21:48:00.000+01:002016-04-10T21:48:04.956+01:00toiletschannelling my inner Larry David I seem to have recently become more intimate with toilets. As described in my last post I got a new job. In my previous job, I would cycle to work and change in the disabled toilet as it was the only room large enough to be able to do so.
And how did I obtain a new job? Well, I left work early one day to go to an interview, carrying in my bad a suit. But not early enough to get changed in the spacious disabled toilet, instead running for a train. I got on the train only to find the toilet was bang out of order. There was a second toilet on the train, the size of a toy train, with a broken cupboard exposing the electrics, and urine all over the floor. I even started trying to get changed before giving up to avoid soaking my soaks in someone else's piss.

I arrived at Waterloo station looking for the station toilets. They charge 30p which I would have happily paid if I could be sure there were showers to change in. And if I had any change on my which I don't. They should really accept bank cards and/or oyster.

So I took the tube to my interview, exiting the station with a good 10 minutes to spare. And dressed super unsmartly. I found a local coffee shop and asked if I could use their toilet as i had a job interview. I think the lady took pity on my, even though I didn't really look like a homeless man, and let me use their excellent one room facility. And then I got the job.

I was told it was a one hour interview, which of course lasted two hours, preventing me from having the telephone job interview which I had set up for afterwards. Luckily they cancelled it about 20 minutes before it was due to start and never called back.Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-61505319757121270882016-03-18T00:38:00.001+00:002016-03-18T00:38:49.806+00:00kyril bonfigliolii haven't even checked that the spelling is correct. I am almost sure it is.

As you can probably tell by his name Kyril (Russian, obv) Bonfiglioli (Italian, obv) was English (obvs). I have only read one of his books. I finished it in less time than it took for the Earth to spin once on it's axis. And that includes time i had to spend doing all the work I was choosing to do. The book, "don't point that thing at me" was a marvellous blend between The Hitchhikers Guide and James Bond. So good, I bought the trilogy. I can't believe no one told me about him, and no one I've spoken to has heard of him.

Another reason for happiness is leaving a stupid job and starting a much better paid, new, and hopefully less stupid, short term job. closer to home and more money = hashtag success.

Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-10482117567971151592016-02-26T01:23:00.002+00:002016-02-26T01:23:58.393+00:008 weeks gonethe things people will do for money. not living on the street is good and that's for the most part why i still work a stupid job. 16 hour days of work are hard. that's still better than the alternative, and hopefully one day soon i'll be able to do a useful 16 hours. at the moment 13 are taken up by bullshit work for some average company (including commuting time). The worst part is the enforced 1 hour lunch break. why can't i just not stand outside in teh cold for an hour, and instead leave at 5pm?? with 3 hours as the maximum i get to do on any given weekday this is stunting time to be spent doing useful things. and even 3 hours has been tough to find recently...

i was supposed to leave but agreed to stay on a bit longer due to not having my own software take off yet. and the lack of finding another job.
the only part i like is the cycle to and from work. when driving every day in london you start to hate other drivers. their idiocy and lack of attention is frightening. when you cycle, you start to really hate drivers, for the same reasons, except now they are playing with your life.
my favourite cycling incident of the last month was where a road is currently closed, so i cycle on the pavement for about 6 metres. i can't be bothered to walk the bike as i'm already tired at that point and the streets are almost always empty at the time i'm there. on this day there were three people! i cycled at about walking pace because i don't want to scare any pedestrians, and only get off if there are kids or dogs around. today had three adults so figured they would be able to cope. the man on the right saw me and moved across to give me space. the lady on the left meanwhile, made a beeline towards me and shouted in my face "PLEASE DONT CYCLE ON THE PAVEMENT".
i replied "ok", and continued to cycle the remaining 2 metres where i rejoined the road. i know what i did was illegal. I think what i did involved maximising common sense. I also think what she did was annoying and idiotic. cycling at 3 mph is not dangerous or inconsiderate. walking over to someone and shouting in their face however...

i haven't been on here pretty much since i found a lady. ladies can be very time intensive. sadly, i think she is not the one for me and i will tell her in 3 weeks time. i don't want to quit too early in case i am wrong.
i never believed in soulmates until i met mine. i don't think i'll ever find another. but i guess i should at least try. i did meet one cool lady recently. although the drug fuelled hipster filled east london after party was not my scene, she was super cool and hot. alas she smoked which is really not good. maybe she'll at least help me move on with my life.

in less exciting news, i think i'll be talking all of july off work. i just need to find a better job to take me to july's end.Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24322805.post-50094932679386596872015-12-20T21:21:00.000+00:002015-12-20T21:21:43.246+00:004 weeks to goi missed a week. last sunday i was sleeping, riding a bike, sleeping and partying. in that order. i woke up to a hangover which was mostly cleared due to powerade blue and an almond croissant. apparently, everyone else has independently discovered that powerade blue is the best hangover prevention (drink the night before) and cure (drinking the morning after). they also know it's due to electrolytes + sugars.

i can't believe there are only 4 weeks to go. time is basically stationary when you're not having fun. at university, bored in a lecture, i once asked a friend what he would do if he knew it was his last day on earth. he said he would spend the entire day going to lectures by the current professor. i didn't get it till he said it would make his last day on Earth feel like it lasted forever.
the past two weeks have been very eventful (for me) meeting 3 (three) different women. of course, i have achieved only varying degrees of failure with them.

the main problem with only 4 weeks of work left is that i still don't appear to have enough money to take a month off. this is a minor major problem. I don't think i can handle working in the same place for much longer so will have to instruct the horrendous species that are recruitment agents to find me a job starting in 4 weeks time. bonne temps rodders, bonne temps.Mudwighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11190434066154637394noreply@blogger.com1
